For my independent research task I have looked into different types of hacking. I have done my research on this because it can help my group with our opening title sequence, considering the film is about someone hacking into other people's computers to spy on them. 

The first type of hacking is known as breaching. Breaching is when someone obtains your information like passwords, emails, ip addresses, etc through a leakage from a website. There is a breach collection on the internet that contains 1.4 billion email and password combinations. Hackers find this information and can sell it to others on websites like the dark web. This is also how some famous people on social media get hacked. There is a breach and their username and password gets exposed for anyone on the internet to find.

The second type of hacking is known as social engineering. Phishing, a sub category of social engineering, is when someone might send you a link for something, like getting free instagram followers if you enter your username and password, then scamming you and taking your information. A hacker could also install something called a RAT on your device. RAT's are malware that give other people access to your device. Hackers can do anything when you have a RAT on your device.

The third most popular type of hacking is known as the man in the middle attacks. This is when the hacker puts themself in the middle of you and the internet. If you are browsing the internet on public wifi, they can see everything that you are sending and receiving. Most websites use HTTPS, which prevents the hacker from being the man in the middle but there are still incidents where this can happen. 

This research will impact my idea because it will help my group come up in different ways in which the hacker can hack his friends computers. This research has opened many more doors to many different ways that we can go about this now.

So our group kind of got in a little bit of a tough situation. We could not decide what we wanted to do for our opening title sequence! We came up with a plan, but honestly it did not really make a great opening title sequence. My group and I called each other and we just went over everything and decided to create a new idea. Instead of doing the whole birdwatch opening title sequence that is about a creepy guy who stalks people, why don't we make it a little more modern!

The idea we came up is that there is this university student, or someone of that age, that needs to make money. He is great at hacking, and one day a bunch of scammers call him. He knows what they are doing, so he ends up playing along but in the end he is the one who scams them, leaving them in awe as this university student tricked a bunch of grown men.

We were divided into groups based on our pitches to the class and who our teacher, Adam, thought we would work best with. Since I live in California, I am eight hours behind UK time. This means that in order for our group to work together and meetup, the meetings had to be set to a later time in the UK so that I could be able to join them. Luiza, one my of my friends in the group was put with me because we work well together as seen in recent projects. Lily, who is also on our group, decided to volunteer because all three of us worked together on creating a     short sequence in class one day and we worked really well together.

My first thoughts were really positive. I am really happy to be working with Lily and Luiza because we all get along great and we are all very creative and artsy people. But every group does have their faults. Something that I could see preventing us from working together is that Luiza and I have very strong personalities and we have fought in the past over not agreeing on things. We always end up making up a day later but we need to work on talking things out instead of arguing. One more weakness is that although all of us are pretty extroverted, we all do have a shy side to us where if we don't feel comfortable speaking then we might not progress further without the help from our teacher.
